This page contains answers to common questions handled by our staff.

WHAT CAN WE BRING FOR OUR DOG?
We encourage you to bring anything to make your pet feel more at home.  Blankets, toys, crate, bed and their favorite treats, of course.  Since we cannot keep a constant watch over your pet, we will decline any rawhide treats.  We provide Bil-Jac ® dog food or a dry kibble for our customers, but we prefer your bring your own food so they don't get upset stomachs from a food change.

WHAT CAN WE BRING FOR OUR CAT?

We have wonderful cat condos for housing your cat.  And as with the dogs, we encourage you to bring in anything the cat is used to or comfortable with.  Since cats can be finicky eaters, we do not provide food for them.  But we do provide the kitty litter at no charge.

DO WE NEED TO PROVIDE YOU WITH ANY SHOT RECORDS?
Yes.  For your dog, proof of current vaccinations for Rabies, Distemper/Parvo Combination and  Bordetella (kennel cough) are required all year.  Kennel Cough vaccination is only given when requested by most vets.  Very few vets automatically give this vaccination.  Please check your records and make sure all three vaccinations are listed.  For the safety of your pets and others boarding with us, your pets will be turned away if they are not current on their shots.  The vaccination booklets given out by the vets are not accepted as valid shot records, please bring a printout from the vet.

Give your own shots??  The following must be provided:

  • The receipt showing the vaccinations purchased.

  • The bottles, labels or packaging that shows name of vaccination, expiration date and lot number.

  • Date vaccination given.

(This applies to Bordetella and Distemper/Parvo Only!  Rabies, by law, must be given by a licensed vet.)

For your cat, proof of current vaccinations for Rabies and FVRCP are required all year.

*No animal will be accepted for boarding without proof from a licensed veterinarian.

Please see our Links page for info on dog flu.

WHAT CAN WE BRING FOR OUR FERRET AND OTHER CRITTERS?
We have a wonderful condo like the cat condos for housing your ferret.  Bring any toys, food and bedding that is needed for your ferret.  For the other critters, (birds, hamsters, etc.) you are required to bring their cages, bedding material, food, other necessities and toys.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

Carefree Kennels is open by appointment only.  We take appointments as early as 7:00am to as late as 8:00pm.  We are open Sunday and holidays too, for your convenience.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER SERVICES THAT YOU PROVIDE?
Yes.  We currently give baths at $20.00.  This includes shampoo and conditioning, nails clipped (if they allow) and ears cleaned.

IS THERE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR GIVING MEDICATION?

No.  We will be happy to administer any veterinarian approved medications at no extra charge.

CAN WE COME AND TOUR THE KENNEL BEFORE A FIRST VISIT?

Yes.  We encourage you to come and tour the kennel first.  We want to do anything that will make it an easier stay for your pet and to ease your mind while you are away.

DO YOU PROVIDE PICK-UP AND DELIVERY SERVICE?

Yes.  Charges are based on a flat fee plus mileage and must be scheduled in advance.
